UFG AM at 13th Hedge Funds World Middle East Conference
UFG Asset Management was one of the headline speakers at the 13th Annual Hedge Funds World Middle East Conference in Dubai, held March 5th-7th. This conference is the major industry event in the region, and gathers hundreds of the region’s leading investors each year.
Florian Fenner, Chief Investment Officer of UFG AM, delivered his speech on Russia after the keynote address of emerging markets pioneer Mr. Mark Mobius, Executive Chairman of Templeton Asset Management. Mr. Mobius’ presentation was entitled “Are the BRICs Overheating, and Are Investors Looking Away from These Areas?”
Mr. Fenner`s presentation on Russia, “Shall I Invest with Mr. Putin”, was met with great interest by conference attendees, especially since it immediately followed Mr. Mobius’ more general hour-long lecture on all emerging markets. Mr. Fenner amazed the audience by posting returns which prove Russia has outperformed all other BRIC countries, in terms of both private equity and public markets investments, over the past decade. He also spoke at length about the recent Presidential elections in Russia and the potential for economic and political change over the next six years under Putin’s renewed leadership.
UFG Asset Management had its own exhibition booth, were our Investor Relations specialist Yana Gerasimova provided conference participants with detailed information with regard to UFG’s public markets, real estate and private equity-focused strategies. UFG was the only Russian fund management company at the conference.
UFG AM has developed many successful relationships with Middle Eastern clients, with substantial levels of assets in the region, and looks forward to finding new long term partners by continuing to participate in events such as Hedge Fund World Dubai in the future.
